Arroz silvestre - Wild rice

Esta exquisitez es el cereal más caro del mundo. Una guarnición solo a base de arroz silvestre – unos 150 gramos cuesta tanto como 1 kg de asado de cerdo. De ahí que ese arroz solamente se utilice para rellenar aves ya preparadas, como pollos o pavos, o mezclado con arroz fino. El arroz silvestre tiene un fuerte sabor a nuez. Se puede adquirir en las tiendas de productos naturales o en los comercios de comestibles finos. Sólo lo hay con cascara. El arroz silvestre es rico en proteínas y vitamina B.


  • 100 gramos de arroz silvestre
  • 0.6 litros de agua
  • ½ cucharadita de sal


1. Poner el arroz en un colador y lavarlo al chorro de agua fría. Dejarlo secar.

2. Poner a hervir el agua, esparcir en ella el arroz y dejar cocer durante 30 minutos a fuego lento con la olla tapada.

3. Añadir sal, remover con cuidado y, a fuego lento, dejar que el arroz vaya absorbiendo líquido durante unos 10 minutos.

4. El agua deberá ser absorbida por completo, viéndose sólo el arroz.

5. Condimentar el arroz según la receta elegida y seguir el proceso.
